Gas rebate cards are credit cards issued by oil companies for the purpose of purchasing gas, oil, and other automotive items at gas stations affiliated with the oil company. These gas cards look and work like credit cards, and offer cash back, free gas, or gas discounts when they are used. Companies such as Discover, Hess, Visa, MasterCard, Sunoco, and others offer gasoline rebate cards.
The rebates or rewards offered by these gas cards vary. Sometimes rewards are available immediately, such as a fixed discount on every gallon of gas purchases. Others rewards accumulate until certain thresholds are met, such as fill your gas tank 10 times and get the 11th fill-up for free. Gasoline cash back cards are also like regular credit cards in that interest rates apply to the unpaid part of the monthly balance, and fees and charges may apply if payments are late. If your regular Visa or MasterCard does not offer rewards on fuel, investigate gas reward cards to save money on every gallon of gas.
